When I was a child, I loved gummy snacks. As we all know, these snacks are full of artificial flavors + colors, and processed sugars. There is nothing “fruity” or healthy about many of these snacks - even the organic kind. These homemade gummies are great because they taste sweet, have a satisfying consistency, and actually improve your health rather than detract from it!

These tasty snacks are simple to make and have a few key ingredients:

Beef Gelatin is a product that I use in my kitchen often. The use of gelatin as a therapeutic tool goes back many years. The protein gelatin works as a digestive aid and contains both of the amino acids: arginine and glycine in large amounts. (source)

Vitamin C is an extremely important nutrient.  Our body is unable to make this vitamin, and therefore, we need to obtain it from food and supplements. Vitamin C is important for boosting the immune system, helping the body to produce collagen, helping with wound healing, and many other important processes. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which means that it fights free radicals. Lifestyle stresses, both environmental and personal choices, can create free radicals that cause oxidative stress within our body (air pollution, smoking, bad fats, high blood sugar, toxins). There needs to be a balance of free radicals and antioxidants in our body. Having an imbalance, with too many free radicals, leads to negative health outcomes. Vitamin C is vital for health. Ingredients:

1 cup organic lemon juice

1 teaspoon Pure Synergy Berry Powder

8 tablespoons beef gelatin

3 tablespoons raw honey


DIRECTIONS:

gently Warm lemon juice in small saucepan.

Whisk in berry powder + gelatin until completely dissolved - do not bring to a boil.

Pour into pyrex measuring cup and then into gummy silicone molds. (I put the molds onto a cookie sheet so it is easier to move.)

Place in refrigerator until hardened.
